Our story began as a dream held close by my mother: to own a Desi fashion boutique that celebrates the richness of Indian tradition while embracing the modern style of today. In 2018, during our first trip to India, we were inspired by the beauty and affordability of authentic Indian fashion. That moment sparked the idea of creating a space in South Africa where women could access high-quality Desi wear at fair prices.
In 2020, The Indo Western Closet was born. What started as a passion has since grown into a trusted brand, thanks to the love and support of our customers. Over the past five years, we’ve proudly become a go-to destination for affordable everyday labels, premium pre-order collections, and even luxe designer pieces through our personal shopping service.
Though I am a Chartered Accountant by profession, my heart has always belonged to Desi culture. From Bollywood films to traditional Indian fashion, this love is at the heart of every garment we bring to you. Together with my mother, we run The Indo Western Closet with the same values that inspired us from the beginning: integrity, affordability, and making every customer feel beautiful and connected to their roots.
We are also proud to be a fully registered South African business, committed to ethical practices and giving back. A portion of our support is quietly directed towards animal shelters, religious institutions, and feeding initiatives that are close to our hearts.
